The Swiss Plastic Recyclers Association VSPR is celebrating its 10th anniversary and is publishing the latest collection statistics in this context: around 900 municipalities throughout Switzerland can already collect household plastics. We are proud to be a part of this with "Bring Plastic back" and to contribute more than half of this fantastic expansion with our approximately 590 municipalities.
Every household produces a lot of plastic every day - whether in the kitchen, bathroom or garden. With the eight system operators of the Swiss Plastic Recycler Association, around 4.7 million Swiss people can collect precisely this household plastic and recycle it - including with the "Bring Plastic back" collection system. The Swiss Plastic Recyclers Association has been promoting, supporting and coordinating this project for ten years and has been certifying collection systems since 2020. The certification includes complete and regular material flow monitoring according to the EMPA method. This guarantees that new raw materials are obtained from the plastic waste in a sensible way and that the plastic does not end up in illegal landfills or even in the oceans. The control of material flows as well as the quantity and quality of the collected goods creates trust and security for both the authorities and the public.
Easy collection thanks to cross-provider networking
The Swiss Plastic Recyclers association makes it possible for the eight certified collection systems - including "Bring Plastic back" - to be used as easily as possible by collecting households: thanks to good networking, the bags can be purchased from a total of over 2,000 sales outlets and handed in at around 1,000 collection points. We are proud to be part of this extensive collection network and are already looking forward to other municipalities opting for this sustainable plastic collection solution.
