Milestone reached: standardized take-back of plastic collection bags

Bring Plastic Back

From July 1, 2025, the return of household plastics will be clearly and uniformly regulated. From July 1, 2025, all plastic collection bags from the collection systems certified by the Swiss Plastic Recyclers Association (VSPR) and RecyPac can be returned free of charge to over 1,000 collection points throughout Switzerland - regardless of the provider and where the bags were purchased.

This simplification is an important step for the Swiss circular economy. The consistency of the systems that has been achieved will increase convenience for the population and promote willingness to collect.

Important: The framework condition that the municipalities must grant the respective collection systems a collection license remains in place. Only these licensed systems are therefore permitted to sell their collection bags in the respective municipalities.

These collection systems are universal:

  • KUH-Bag (A-Region, Verband KVA Thurgau, Zweckverband Abfallverwertung Bazenheid)
  • Plastic collection bag (Kunststoffsammelsack Schweiz GmbH)
  • Migros-Sack (Federation of Migros Cooperatives)
  • real-Sack (Recycling, Entsorgung, Abwasser Luzern)
  • RecyBag (RecyPac Association)
  • Sammelsack (InnoRecycling AG)
  • Supersack (Elrec AG)

Anyone who uses one of these bags can return it free of charge to any official collection point.
